Bernina KL 114 mit Bernina Medaillon

I am restoring a Class 114 that must be pre-1947 (Sonne AG logo), and probably pre-war as it is black with serial number 212811.

It has an interesting large pewter medallion signed by Henri Edouard Huguenin, used for the cover plate, showing an aerial view of the early Steckborn factory before the 1950s expansions. It even has a small steam train in the background delivering timber and castings.

I have not found any other references to this medallion. Maybe it was used for celebrating an early factory anniversary, or possibly as a promotion for the Swiss national exhibition of 1939? The same image is used on some Bernina instruction manuals (121 picture below from eBay sale).

This machine was sold in South Africa by the first Bernina distributor, Jerry Bouwer (Bouwer Cost-Plus Corporation), based in Johannesburg where I also live. It is mechanically perfect, extremely smooth operation, and I plan to add a motor so it can be used again.

Ich habe einen Motor in meine KL 114 eingebaut, so dass sie jetzt einsatzbereit ist. Der Motor ist ein modernes Produkt, das für alte Singer-Maschinen entwickelt wurde, aber er passte perfekt in die KL 114 ohne Modifikation. Der Motor hat ein schwarzes Metallgehäuse, so dass er gut zu den Maschinen passt. Er wurde mit der Halterung, dem Riemen und dem Fußanlasser geliefert.
