So, here is how its going... Btw. Thanks for the welcome!!. I feel so welcome! heart

Well, my first thought was, to give her a new life, I would make her all new.. But as Edelschrauber said, this will not dignify her... not showing her hard work. BUT, there is no going back now..

I want to take the top arm off, to clean it. can it be done?

I need your help, do I re grease her? Is there anything you would do, to take extra care of her?

Also, anybody know some Adler history about the machine? maybe a link to it.

(Translation in google)
Also, hier ist, wie es geht ... Btw. Danke für die Begrüßung !! Ich fühle mich so willkommen! Herz

Sorry 4apples - may be most of the "Eagles" might be simply still shocked ....
Did you try to search for Adler or a Singer 29 in our forum?

You have a 30-7 NOT 30-1 - thats the large hook variant of the 30-1 - even better - much harder to find and more valuable! Good score...

First step usually is removing the head and lever.

Drive out the pin the lever is attached to the casting with from BACK to FRONT. Also drive out the pin the needle bar is attached to the fork slide piece on the tip of the lever - also BACK to FRONT. Then remove the 4 screws the head is attached to the casting with.

If pins do not move apply heat with a blow torch or electric heat gun.

If you want to remove the drive cam (drives the lever) on the right end you have to drive out a tapered pin. Find out which end is narrower and drive the pin out from this end. Cam also has 1 or 2 set screws which you have to loosen and then you need a proper gear puller for removing the cam from the top shaft. Mark larger hole side on the cam and on the shaft that ensures you reassemble the cam / drive in the tapered pin correctly - machine does not work when you put on the cam incorrectly.

when done we can go on... wink

Small hint:

Since you are "new" to restoring sewing machine - better take pictures when you remove a parts so you know where it goes back on when reassembling the machine. Though - all parts usually just fit on one certain spot so reassembling its not too difficult - especially in case of a Class 30 patcher machine.

it´s a sewing machine too - obviously biggrin The 30-7 bobbin is larger / has more thread capacity, it uses a longer needle Sytem 332 LONG (or 332 L - but don`t get confused with 332LR or 332LL) not just 332 (size matters wink in this case) and it can handle thicker materials.

Adler 30-1: length of steel arm 47cm with small shuttle/bobbin, for normal sewing work
Adler 30-7: length of steel arm 47cm with large shuttle/bobbin and high foot stroke, for medium and heavy sewing work

Good, so 5 hours of removing rust, the head unit is clean! So much rust!

What should oil should I use? just sewing machine oil for the moving parts?

"Gut, also 5 Stunden Rost entfernen, die Haupteinheit ist sauber! So viel Rost!

Was sollte Öl verwenden? nur Maschinenöl für die beweglichen Teile?"
